SHINee is to release their 5th mini album Everybody on Oct. 14.

The title song Everybody is a Complextro song with easy melody and funky rhythm. The lyrics say they will wak the child in everybody and take them to the world of cheerful rhythm.

SHINee is to have ‘SHINee Comeback Special’ in Gangnam Hallyu Festival at 8 pm, Oct. 6. The special ending stage of the festival is planned as a special gift for global music fans as SHINee, a globally renowned Kpop top idol group, is making a comeback.

Performing their new mini album title song Everybody, SHINee will also sing Selene 6.23, their new song from the bound edition of the 3rd regular album, live for the first time along with their other hit songs such as Dream Girl and Sherlock.

SHINee to Release The Misconceptions of Us

misconceptions_us

SHINee will release a new edition of their 3rd album titled The Misconceptions of Us on August 8.

The new edition, binding SHINee’s 3rd album Chapter 1 ‘Dream Girl-The misconceptions of you’ with Chapter 2 ‘Why So Serious?-The misconceptions of me’, includes two new songs, ‘Selene 6.23’ and ‘Better Off’.

Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of SHINee’s 3rd album showed contrasting feels of music with distinctive concepts, colors, and stories. The bound edition of the album, praised for its completeness, is expected to deliver a variety of emotions and feels. It is also designed to contribute to SHINee’s efforts to clear up ‘misconceptions’ and communicate with fans. SHINee members participated in the album design through their own drawings.

‘Selene 6.23’ is a ballad song that mixes SHINee’s touching voices into the harmony of orchestra and piano. New Age pianist Iruma participated in the song. ‘Better Off’ is a pop ballad song with medium-tempo melody and impressive lyrics that deliver the sad feelings of break-up beautifully. Jonghyun participated in writing both songs’ lyrics.

———————————

I still need more time to get used to THAT face on the bound edition album jacket. I just LOL whenever I see it. Can’t help it. All kinds of questions swarm in my head: Is SME testing shawols’ loyalty with THAT? How can it ‘clear up misconceptions’ and help SHINee communicate with fans? If it is drawn by SHINee members as said in the blurb, what do they want to tell us by putting it on the album jacket? Are they asking whether fans could love SHINee even without all the glamorous embellishments? even when SHINee got old and wrinkled? Is this a gesture to show SHINee is not just one of the pretty idols?

Then this inevitable question: Is this a good selling strategy for a group whose position is still “idol” however much praised “artist-like”? for a group with fans buying 10, 20, or a lot more copies to support?

Enlighten me with your views and insights! Anyway, I’m very excited about the two new songs. Curious what ‘Selene 6.23′ means (its Korean title=’Distance between You and Me’) and how it fits in with the other songs. Is ‘Better Off’ (Korean title=’Leave Me and Get Away’) about a change of heart after ‘Sleepless Night’? Hope to see them perform any of these on music programs even just for a week.

[info] To Beautiful You Cast & Staff

OK, I was a bit worried when I heard more idols were cast (who will act?), and then brightened up and got excited more when the final casting news came out with quite impressive actors lined up as supporting characters.

Minho as Kang Taejoon, a high jump gold medalist, who is discouraged after being injured

Sulli as Goo Jaehee who disguises herself as a male and transfers to Taejoon’s school to help him recover for a comeback

And people wondered who would play the second male lead and hoped an actor, not an idol, would be cast. Yesterday, Lee Hyunwoo came to my mind, and I thought to myself if he could be cast, it would be perfect. Yes, he was cast!!! Now I can believe SM is serious about making this drama not only to sell it to overseas idol fans, but also to lure muggles. Lee Hyunwoo is a rising star who is making a successful transition from a child star to an attractive and good adult actor. He was in the Master of Study and the Equator Man.

Lee Hyunwoo as Cha Eungyeol, soccer middle fielder, who is conceited and short-tempered

And a new face who is a rising musical actor (also appeared in some drama and movies) was cast as a sub-main. Kang Haneul as Joo Jicheol, a high jump player in the national team and Taejoon’s rival.

Seo Joonyoung (known for his impressive acting in Tree with Deep Roots) as Ha Seungli, dorm supervisor and fencing team chief — a macho type with strong leadership

Ki Taeyoung as Jang Minwoo, a mysterious eccentric school nurse who helps Jaehee

Kang Gyeongjoon as a comic and clumsy track-and-field team coach

Lee Young-eun, a teacher of Korean in a triangle relationship with the school nurse and the coach

Lee Hanee, school president with gentle charisma

Lee Hanwee, Taejoon’s father

Lee Ahyun, the dorm supervisor’s mom who knows Jaehee’s secret and helps her

Ahn Hyegyeong, a sports magazine reporter

Ko Soyoung, head director like Bae Yongjoon in Dream High; her casting made a headline because this is her first TV appearance since her marriage. She’s a top model and star who is now married to Jang Dong-gun, a top star in Korea.

Also, Kim Jiwon (CF model, High Kick 3) as a student in a neighbor school who likes Taejoon, Gwanghee of ZE:A as another dorm supervisor and theater team chief (?) who is adored by everyone as the owner of absolute beauty.  El of Infinite may also be cast as one of Taejoon’s friends.

*The cast and character information haven’t been finalized yet, so there might be changes.

Total 16 episodes to be broadcast in August

Staff Info:

Directed by Jeon Kisang (Witch Yoo Hee, Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, My Girl, Boys over Flowers)

Written by Lee Youngcheol (High Kick 1, 2, 3, Kimchi Cheese Smile)

Music by Park Geuncheol (Goong, Queen of Games, City Hunter, Lovers in Paris)

Art by Noh Sangsoon (You Are Beautiful, My Girlfriend is Goo Mi Ho, Shining Inheritance)

Produced by Kim Hoon (White Tower-assistant producer-, Love in Harvard, etc)

Action by Jung Jingeun

*Will this drama be Dream High 1 or Dream High 2? Boys over Flowers was very popular but left a bad impression because of the changes made to the story by the script writer. I’m not sure about the writer whose main work has been for sitcoms. Competition with the rival dramas that start about the same time in August is expected to be very tough: Lee Joonki, a popular top star, is coming back in a historical fiction drama after finishing his military service; the other drama with Song Joongki and Moon Chaewon. Tough! but fighting~

Rollingstone Selects SHINee as One of the 10 Kpop Groups Most Likely to Break in America

“The quintet has released catchy Korean electro-pop singles including “Ring Ding Dong” and “Lucifer.”; recent single “Sherlock” not only showcases their emphasis on captivating hooks, but also recalls the vocal stylings of the Jackson 5.”

*Well, there’s not much, but still good to see SHINee selected as one of the ten kpop groups!

[info] SHINee Sherlock Oricon Chart Ranking (Updated)

This isn’t bad considering there is almost no promotion. For comparison with previous single sales on the first day:

110622 50,270 Replay
110830 25,595 JULIETTE
111012 18,409 LUCIFER
120516 28,045 Sherlock

[Cr: JHolic@DC SHINee Gallery]

FYI, Lucifer sold more (over 20,000) on the 2nd day.

—————-

2nd day sales & ranking: 3rd 8,889

*This doesn’t look good  (well, not too behind compared to Lucifer JP?). Can this be because some JP fans who bought the Korean version don’t buy this JP version? because this was released too soon after the Korean one? I’m afraid the weekly sales may not even reach 50K.

*FYI, Lucifer JP sales in 1st week:

18,409 + 20,426 + 3,689 + 2,424 + 1,761…=50,398

—————-

3rd day sales & ranking: 3rd 3,991

*I think Sherlock JP will make 50K at least. A more positive view is that SHINee can sell this much even without any promotion, that SHINee has a solid fanbase in Japan.

4th day sales & ranking: 3rd 2,971

1st week sales:

05/15 28,045
05/16 *8,889
05/17 *3,991
05/18 *2,971

On the threshold

Yes, I’m still hovering over SHINee World.

SHINee wrapped up their Sherlock mini album promotion activities, and started their first Japan arena tour.
It’s a tight schedule. May they stay healthy until the end of the tour!
Reading fan accounts, I hoped this concert could be a carnival for them.
A time off the track of our daily life routine, a space outside of the system, in which you can forget about the rules and disciplines and go over the limits put on your body, thus to experience a sort of catharsis, some kind of emotional purification…for a new start, a new leap becuz SHINee is evolving into a group that will show off a more mature and sexier manhood.
R U Ready?

Not only for SHINee, but also for shawols.
Through cracks in our common dream named SHINee, I saw some ugly sides of the fandom. Noxious acts made in the name of love.
These days, I’m thinking about fangirling as acts of reading. Because at the end of all, that’s what we’re doing as fans. We watch them on TV or radio programs. We laugh or cry with them, we find meanings from even small gestures or expressions.
Let’s remember that what we read only tells us what we dream, wish, think, believe while watching SHINee rather than reveals who SHINee really are as persons.

What story is SHINee for you?
I have read some extremely biased and unfair stories made in the name of love.
Your reading mirrors you. Be careful becuz other people may see more than you want to reveal.
Your bias is naturally the protagonist of your story. If you’re making any other member(s) a villain for your story, remember the member is also the very protagonist for others, the one who makes them dream.
If you hold your dream dearly, then respect other people’s dreams.
Do not pass on your story as the one and only true account.
And also remember that the story titled SHINee needs all of us working together along with our shiny boys.

Oh, you don’t want your bias to be in the story any more? Are you sure it is the best for him?
The entertainment world is a dark and dirty place. I think most international fans don’t even have any clue.
SM with its power and status is not as bad as some kpop fans believe and is quite good at protecting and promoting stars. Oh, and they have pretty good resources. Well, they pursue profits. They are not doing business for charity. We should consider that. They may not be the most humane, but they know how to do business. And I rather like it. Some fans believe they know a lot better, but I strongly doubt it.

I like stories of growth. There is uncertainty in a story of growth. The story I wanted to write with SHINee was one.

Uncertainty. Being on the threshold.
My protagonists are imperfect. Like me. Like you. No one is absolutely good. Each of them has their own weaknesses and struggles. While making a beautiful story titled SHINee together, they have their own sub-stories in which they go through times of hardship — frustration, misunderstanding, conflicts, envy and learning life lessons. By staying together in and for the same story, I hope, they learn to respect and support each other.

Let me ask you to pause and think,
What part would you do in the story as a fan?

Uncertainty. Waiting.

I’m literally on the threshold. On the border. I’m not out of SHINee world. I’m not quite back in. I started with Taemin, and I don’t know how to leave him. I’m trying to learn from him to stay positive. He’s the source of inspiration for me. What I know for sure is I’ll continue to write a story with my boy while cheering for SHINee in my heart.
Believe me, it will be a beautiful story.

I’ll un-private blog posts soon, but my time with this blog is over.
I’m planning to open a new blog for Taemin. It will be a very personal blog — nothing like providing updates. You can get them elsewhere. It is to indulge myself 100% in adoring ma boy.
