One concern is, was 120K for the fist shipments enough to meet the demand? Was EMI Music Japan too timid in their estimation? The premium limited edition was sold out at several stores, and EMI said they are not going to make more copies. I’m a bit concerned how much this will affect the sales…

Surpassed my expectations for sure. It’s an awesome start. I am so happy for the boys since they are so hardworking. Since they are traveling, I wonder if they already know.
Now let’s all hope & pray their sales is not front loaded. It is important to keep selling well the next couple of weeks bec it will indicate a growing fan base. The VMAJ performance this Sat should help. Plus the wonderful job EMIs done so far in terms of promotions. The showcases in Jul will provide additional boost too.

Well if limited edition sold out, ppl will buy regular edition so it won’t affect the sale number much right? (I hope so) – But i do think they was underestimate Replay sale this time. The same thing happen to Lucifer last time in Kor right, if i’m not wrong after they reacehd 100k mark, a lot stores were of out stock. Shawol power is unexpected!!! 😀
Juju, i just checked that cdjapan also sold out limited edition and 1st press of regular edition. Only the 1st day sell, EMI should release the 2nd press fast…… I hope they will do better digitally tho, maybe next single.

It may affect the sales. Because some places may not have enough copies to sell and people may have to wait until the second press comes out.
EMI said they are not going to make more copies? i think this is the reason why shinee album didnt on the hmv chart today. maybe because there are no more albums that can be sold. if its so, this is the first time EMI makes me dissapointed. but nevermind, what EMI has been done so far is enough to cover it.

Congratulations to Shinee! They’ve sold almost more in 1 day then SJ & 2pm sold in a week, that’s a big achievement & they’re off to a good start! I figure the current sales can mainly be credited to fans but they had some srs good pre-promo w/ all the mag interviews & what not & they seem to have a lot of showcases coming up (plus the VMAJ) so hopefully they’ve gained the interest of many non-fans & we’ll continue to see good sales throughout the coming week 😀

what do you mean by Emi not going to make more copies? No company does that. I think what they said is that there’re no more 1st press but eventually 2nd/3rd… release will come out.

with all the amazing promotions that were LEADING UP to their debut date, their single day sale DID NOT disappoint! I’m excited to see their total sales for their debut week. 50K in A DAY, imagine what their numbers will come up to in a week!
I’m as worried as you are in terms of EMI saying they won’t be making more copies… =S. does that mean fans can’t get any more copies at all, or will it be another pre-order situation? either case, it seems like EMI might have been a bit timid on their estimation for ordering 120K for the first round. but then again i’m sure the boys themselves are shocked as the numbers as well.

i just checked the site and i think Emi means the limited editon will not be re-printed, since it’s premium limited (i’m so glad that i order it – i wonder how many limited edition they produced). But the normal edition will eventually has its 2nd/3rd press release.
As kenda explained, they are not going to reprint the premium limited edition. But they’ll make more copies of the standard edition. The premium limited edition will be truly literally “premium and limited” 😀
