[news] SHINee Finishes Debut Showcase in Abbey Road Studios Successfully

Male group SHINee made successful performances on their Japan debut showcase stage in Abbey Road Studios.

According to SM Entertainment on 21 June, SHINee had a showcase stage in Abbey Road Studios, London at 3:40 p.m. (local time) on 19 June.

The showcase was held in London, in which EMI Music headquarters are located, to celebrate SHINee’s official debut in Japan. They performed for about 30 minutes in front of media and interested parties of the industry.

It was unprecedented to have the first debut reception in Abbey Road Studios, a sacred place of music in which musicians such as Stevie Wonder and Brian Adams performed. This special plan was made for SHINee, a team set for global activities on the world stage.

A Source in SME said, “SHINee’s official debut in Japan is the first step toward their venture into the world, so considering the global team’s nature and color, we planned and pursued a differentiated showcase in Abbey Road Studios hand in hand with EMI Music Japan affiliated with EMI Music, a world-wide record company.”

David Kassler, CEO of EMI Music (in Asia and Europe), stated, “SHINee has something overwhelming and unique, not found in the West, in appearance, style, and dance. I think they have potential to stand shoulder to shoulder with great artists in the future.”

SHINee performed Replay-You Are My Everything, their Japanese debut song, which is Japanese version of their Korean debut song Noona Is So Pretty, and the Japanese version of Hello. They also attracted attention by singing their hit songs such as Juliette, Ring Ding Dong, and Lucifer.

After performing total 6 songs, SHINee garnered compliments from the attending interested parties of the music industry. Jonghyun, who could not perform in the showcase due to high fever, participated in the last performance, ‘Replay-You Are My Everything, Abbey Road Special,’ and received a big applause.

SHINee will leave for Japan on 22 June after finishing their Japanese debut showcase in London and start their promotion activities for their debut single Replay. They will participate in MTV Music Award Japan (VMAJ) to be held Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

Edit: Their Japanese debut song Replay – You Are My Everything was rearranged to a piano and strings version titled ‘Replay – You Are My Everything, Abbey Road Specia.’ It was made more special with a string quartet by musicians from London Metropolitan Orchestra, which have participated in performances by U2, Sting, Pet Shop Boys, and Pink Floyd, as well as in OSTs.

Look at the first photo. So cute. I knew they’d take a photo there imitating Beatles. (Jonghyun is missing T.T). SHINee to the world, wow.

  1. I was waiting for the picture of them crossing Abbey Road. Finally here! They’re so cute, but it could be much better if Jjong’s there too 😦

  2. I’ so touched.. i know our babies can do it… wow, the world..
anyway idem, i think it would be better if Jong was on the 1st pic too..^^”

  3. So happy for the boys. EMI’s got some big plans for them – all this global talk makes me think they’re not gonna be very active in Korea anymore. I’m not necessarily sad bec the Korean public does not appreciate them enough. The critics love them though. But for this plan to work, their language skills need to improve. Only OnKey’s got the strongest JP and English so far.

I love the picture on Abbey Road. Too bad it’s without Jjong. But does anyone else think they’ve lost so much weight in just a month? OnTae’s face has lost all the chubbiness in May and Taemin’s legs are so skinny. For a fashionista, I have not been liking Key’s fashion since their last day in Paris. But for once, Onew’s dressed very well in this pic. HAHA

  4. Ever since they signed up with EMI, they’ve received such wonderful compliments! I never expected music specialist to say SHINee has ” potential to stand shoulder to shoulder with great artists in the future.” This makes my heart soar, and I feel so honored to be a part of SHINee World at this time.

If they ever do make it so big, I hope that the current SHINee World will help out the newer fans… Because I always see that when artists suddenly make it big, a lot of older fans tend to bash newer fans just for not knowing the artists as well as they do. I hope SHINee World doesn’t turn out this way. I hope we can all stay humble, just as I’m sure SHINee will stay humble.

And about the Abbey Road picture… I feel like Minho fits the role the most with his outfit (x
